The second Desmond Elliott Prize will be awarded in June 2009 by a panel of three judges, to be announced early next year.  A longlist of 10 titles will be announced in April followed by a shortlist of three books in May 2009

In selecting the winner, the judges will be asked to look for a novel that is a page-turner, a book that leaves a lasting impression and which appeals to a wide general audience.
